For example, if you are throwing a concert or music-themed party for your next birthday or fund-raiser, create concert ticket invitations. Instead of using a word processing program or purchasing ticket invitations from an invitations printing company, make your own using card stock. It's an inexpensive project and it gives you control of the final product.

Cut pieces of heavy card stock into 5 1/2-by-2-inch rectangles. Make as many rectangles as you need invitations.

Set your sewing machine to the shortest stitch length possible. Without thread, run the card stock pieces through the sewing machine 1 1/4 inches in from the right side to create a perforation for the ticket. Repeat the process with each rectangle.
