Turn any video into karaoke by adding captions for the lyrics. Microsoft's free Movie Maker software for Windows 7 and Vista is easy to use once you learn a few simple steps. If you are running Windows XP, you may be able to find an old version of Movie Maker which works on XP, but is no longer supported by Microsoft. 2Open your video with the software.
3Select the frame where you would like the first line of lyrics to appear.
4Click the "Caption" button at the top of the screen, then type the lyrics into the box. Use the Format menu near the top of the screen to change the font face and color. Drag the text box to the desired location.
5Select an effect for how you want the caption to appear and disappear from the screen.
6Set the duration for each line by clicking the "Format" tab and "Text duration." Enter the number of seconds in the box.
7Return to the "Home" tab. Repeat as necessary until you have inserted captions for all the lyrics.
8Save the edited video in the desired format.
